How can I recover from too high salary expectations through follow up email?

I recently had a phone interview, where my salary expectations were too high. I recovered in the phone call saying that I was willing to negotiate, however would it be wise to mention this in my thank you email to the recruiter?

@Sophie He mentioned to me that it was out of the range they were expecting to offer.

That doesn't give you a great indication of whether it was a little or a lot. I think at this point, I'd simply wait to see - if they go forward, you're in a great position, if they don't - well, would you have been happy working for substantially less?

That doesn't give you a great indication of whether it was a little or a lot. I think at this point, I'd simply wait to see - if they go forward, you're in a great position, if they don't - well, would you have been happy working for substantially less?
