Opening any file manager hangs the system

0

Using xubuntu 16.04.5 LTS with budgie-desktop. As soon as i start any file manager, Thunar or Nautilus installed, it consumes whole RAM and hangs the complete system. Previous day the system was running perfectly.
Please let me know any solution apart from trying to re-install these software, if possible.

  • Are you running on a system that's short on memory and with inadequate swap space?

  • 8 GB RAM with no swap space.

  • You probably need swap space. You can easily add a swap file without repartitioning, to see if this solves your problem.
