Unable to remove / hide ActiveX Command Button in MS Word

0

I have created a .docm that has a command button which opens a userform and fills out the rest of the document based on specific fields, essentially acting as a template.

The button is located on the first page, in an "Internal Use Only" Page, which is meant to be deleted, once users have completed the Userform and finished editting their template, ready to be saved as a .docx or pdf

Unfortunately, as users delete the first page (by deleting the content), the command button remains, and appears when users print the page / export to pdf.

The command button is not locked. I even tried deleting the macro to see if I could then delete the button. Going into Designer Mode, selecting the button, and deleting it will delete the button. But once you exit Designer Mode, the button still appears. Going back to Designer Mode, the button is hidden but appears in the Properties section. It also appears in the Selection Pane as "Object 1" that cannot be deleted from the selection pane.

Is there a solution for this? I need an easy / hassle-free way for my users to delete the button; ideally the same time they delete that first "Internal Use Only" Page.

Thanks for your help everyone
