Why do DVDs rarely load up in 18.04LTS
DVD films or data discs do not load up on my system, using the latest version of Ubuntu LTS, every now n then they do play, it's a complete gamble getting the DVD player to detect the data on the disc, after lots of attempts it loads up in the end and stays fine then until i reboot, then i have to repeat the whole process. The DVD player's not very old though, i use brand new discs and i don't use anything other than a fully updated and clean system, the extra's have also been installed. This is not something i had a problem with on windows, so i am puzzled. Here's a screen for you I have also installed the libdvd package, that installed fine, rebooted but still nothing. Here's the link to install libdvd package

Look at the logs. In a terminal window, journalctl /dev/dvdwill show the system logs related to/dev/dvd.
