  • sudo dkms remove backath10k/2.0 --all Reboot, then see this answer

  • Hi thank you the command above worked. I didn't have to do the installation again. Not sure how removing backath10k alone solved the problem

  • sudo dkms remove backath10k/2.0 --all Reboot, then see this answer

  • Hi thank you the command above worked. I didn't have to do the installation again. Not sure how removing backath10k alone solved the problem

First, I suggest you remove the incorrect and probably conflicting driver. At the terminal:

    sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source

    Reboot and then run:

sudo modprobe ath10k_pci && dmesg | grep ath

Post the result and, depending on the outcome, I will further edit my answer to propose a solution.

The first link you gave is the correct method; however, it appears that something has gone wrong with the compile process. Let's see if we can fix it:

    cd backports-20151120
    make clean
    make defconfig-wifi
    make
    sudo make install
    sudo modprobe ath10k_pci

Any improvement? If not, reboot and post again:

    dmesg | grep ath

    This one solved my problem

    sudo aptitude install linux-image-extra-4.4.0-43-generic

    • You might want to check which is the latest version when you install it. (try typing until "image-extra-" and use the auto-complete with tab to find the latest)

    • my hardware: intel wifi "Centrino Ultimate-N 6300" on lenovo x201

                This one solved my problem

                sudo aptitude install linux-image-extra-4.4.0-43-generic

                • You might want to check which is the latest version when you install it. (try typing until "image-extra-" and use the auto-complete with tab to find the latest)

                • my hardware: intel wifi "Centrino Ultimate-N 6300" on lenovo x201
