How do i fully restore network settings to default setting server 18.04

-1

my 17.10 server install recently broke and no longer had the network card showing up on boot so i had to use dhclient to get it working again. i thought updating it to 18.04 would resolve the issue in some way but it also failed to start the interface on boot.

is there a way to reset all the network settings to hopefully fix it, netplan is really confusing and seems to not want to work at all and comes up with errors every time i try to use a config.
