change kmail account from pop3 to imap

Because of changes at Comcast, I need to change my kmail accounts from pop3 to imap. How can I do this while preserving all my local folders? I an create a new imap account easily enough, but I don't know if there's a safe way to transfer all of my local folders from the pop3 account to the new imap account.
