Install TesserOCR package on python virtualenv

I am trying to install a python wrapper for Tesseract OCR https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tesseract. I have found this python package https://github.com/sirfz/tesserocr and followed the installation guideline.
I have installed tesseract with brew install tesseractocr and checked that leptonica is correctly installed.
However, when I try to install the python package on my python virtual environment, with pip install tesserocr I get the following error :
tesserocr.cpp:653:10: fatal error: 'leptonica/allheaders.h' file not found
I have come up with a partial solution : CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/local/include pip install tesserocr but I still get the following error : ld: library not found for -ltesseract I reckon I need to link the library with an additional flag, but I don't know which one.
Any clue?
