How to install Wi-Fi driver for Realtek RTL8821CE on Ubuntu 18.04?

Wi-Fi not working on Lenovo ThinkPad E570 (Realtek RTL8821CE)
5 answers
I bought a new HP laptop and loaded Ubuntu 18.04.1 along side Windows 10. When I turn it on the grub bootlegger does not work properly and it boots automatically to Windows. If I press the ESC key on start up it gives the option to open Ubuntu or Windows. When I open Ubuntu it does not show a WiFi adapter. I have tried numerous step and still have no WiFi. When I checked for WiFi with grep it identifies this:
02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter
Kernel 4.15
What steps am I missing?
networking dual-boot wireless network-manager realtek-wireless

@rick-dreiling How does it not show a wifi adapter? Does it not show an icon on your desktop or did you use a command to show the adapter. Also, sometimes you have to toggle a fn key or a switch to turn the adapter on.
