Dual boot Windows 10 - Ubuntu 18.04: can't boot from USB

-1

I am trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 as my second os (besides windows 10).

But when I press F12 to try to boot from my bootable USB with Ubuntu on it, I can't find it between the boot options.

My laptop has a dual-drive setup: SSD for OS and HDD for data.

I am booting UEFI bootmode, my drives are GPT partitioned and I created the bootable USB with rufus 3.4. Screenshot Rufus

I've tried all possible solutions I could find, and I really need a dual-boot setup.

Have you checked other settings in BIOS like USB virtualization/power saving mode/secure boot?

  • Have you tried booting into Win10, mounting the USB stick, and going into the Control Panel to specify the boot device?

  • I've tried secure boot on/off.

  • @CarlWitthoft what do you mean exactly ?

  • Welcome to AskUbuntu! If your system BIOS doesn't provide the option to boot from USB, that's nothing to do with Ubuntu. I recommend that you contact your laptop manufacturer.
