Read/Write access to USB with kiosk mode xsession file

0

I have an x session file that is configured to launch an X application in Ubuntu 16.04. This does a great job at giving me "kiosk" mode, however I can't get access to USB devices (specifically USB drives) through the application. What's the best way to configure the xsession to allow this access?

The user is added to the dialout group and I can access the device if I go through the regular ubuntu xsession file and open the application from the desktop.
