I would like to update OpenSSH to version 7.8 but I can't find how to do that

-1

I tried to do what was written in this gist https://gist.github.com/techgaun/df6...82c4c3470bc48e
changing the following line wget "

http://mirrors.evowise.com/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/openssh-7.8p1.tar.gz

So now when I am running

ssh -V

I have

OpenSSH_7.8p1, OpenSSL 1.1.1a 20 Nov 2018

But

dpkg --list openssh*

is returning me

enter image description here

I woud like to update this one as well but I have no idea how to do that

The Gist link does't work. Also, please post the output as text with code formatting instead of as a picture. Which version of Ubuntu are you using and why do you need this version of SSH specifically/

The output of dpkg --list info you provided does not match any supported releases of Ubuntu it seems? What are you running? (packages.ubuntu.com/…)

  • I'm using ubuntu version 16.04 and why i want to use this ssh version is because PCI vulnerability scan shows lower version than 7.8 as vulnerability

  • If this scan is operating purely on the basis of version number, then it's useless. Ubuntu developers backport patches, so in all likelihood, the current version of SSH on Ubuntu 16.04 (1:7.2p2-4ubuntu2.7) is not vulnerable. You should install that.

  • @Olorin i'm agree with you, but i have to fulfil all requirements to pass that PCI compliance. Please suggest how can i update my SSH version to 7.8 or higher on my 16.04 Ubuntu
