Low power remote control hardware solutions? [closed]

I have a pretty powerful computer and a weak tablet, I can control/underclock the PC to lower consumption but I am guessing the best optimal way had been thought of before and may already exist...

I want to use photoshop/low fps games/program on my main PC remotely using my tablet. It is an android tablet, I also want to do this to my laptop and just have my PC host my "workstation"

My ideas was to underclock the pc, put it in sleep and have some sort of wake-on-Lan, and just have it ramp up on usage, but I am wondering if there's any existing solutions to this problem that may be more optimal than using RDC/TeamViewer with Wake-On-LAN

Extras: The tablet is rooted but no custom ROMs exist. Also I don't mind spending a little hardware wise to make this better. I have a pretty good router too (AC 1900) with ok Internet.

  • This question is most likely going to be closed as being too broad. But a lot of your question seems to be filled with tons of overthinking. You don’t have to do anything magical to connect a “weak” table to a “powerful” PC. Just use basic VPN software on the tablet and allow the PC to be controlled via VPN… That’s it! The relative speeds between the tablet and PC mean nothing. The only issue might be the hardware on the tablet might not be fast enough from a GPU perspective to give you a smooth experience as a VPN. But slowing down the PC won’t make that faster. And rooting means nothing.

  • I understand but It's more like I want the PC to ramp up in use from a very low powered state, and was wondering if such a solution exists.. The rooting bit was to open options up, I am currently using TeamViewer and was considering using Windows RDC but I was looking for better built suggestions.

  • Any graphics intensive work is going to be limited by the bandwidth you have. Using an RDP client and server will be much less painfull then team viewer. (Which routes connections via it's server). WOL is probably the most power efficient way of making your device if it's on the same LAN or you can get your router to trigger the request.
