SMB share does not refresh in Windows 10 Explorer

0

This is a common problem but I can’t find any fix for this which I can’t believe.

We have a new setup in the office, which I thought is very common:
Mac Mini file server that shares via SMB several folders to macs and PCs.

I had an ACL issue which I had to manually fix on the Macmini to solve permission issues that were not inherited.
https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/340690/osx-file-sharing-permission-problems

Now my problem is that the windows explorer does not refresh after changes happened to the Samba share folder.

There are many many many topics about this, but none seems to solve it.

I can’t believe this is just the way it is. There must be similar setups out there with a working PC and Mac file share Environment on a Mac Mini.
That’s the reason for this post. If someone has it working, can I ask if there is a similar manual fix required as for the ACL issue?

I hope there is a server side solution so not all windows clients need to change something, but let’s see ;-)

Chris

  • Hi Can I ask if this configuration can be done on OSX Mojave as well? krenger.ch/blog/samba-windows-explorer-refresh Add to /etc/samba/**smb.conf** [global] refresh = 1 It sounds like the solution to my problem and the reason why I ask is that I can't find a smb.conf file on my Mac Mini
