Lap top screen not bright enough

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series Laptop.
The screen isn't bright enough but when I press Fn and the up arrow nothing happens, nor F11 or F12.
any suggestions

Have you tried adjusting the screen brightness in your power settings in control panel?
