Os tâmeis,[9]tâmiles,[9]tâmis[9] ou tâmules[9] (em tâmil: தமிழர், transl. tamiḻar), são um grupo étnico nativo de Tamil Nadu, um estado da Índia, e da região nordeste do Sri Lanka. Falam predominantemente o tâmil, e têm uma história registrada que data em cerca de dois milênios.[10] Comunidades de imigrantes tâmeis podem ser encontradas por todo o mundo.


Os tâmeis são maioritariamente hinduístas, com consideráveis populações cristãs e muçulmanas, enquanto os tâmeis jainistas formam uma minoria reduzida.

1 This question is a follow up of this one. I am trying to run a command through the command line on a remote machine running Windows 7 from a workstation running Debian in an SSH session on that machine.
