Ubuntu Linux Intel Wireless adaptor not found; iwlwifi bug

0

I just installed Ubuntu Bionic Beaver on my new PC, which uses an AMD 2950X Thread ripper (16 Core, 32 Thread) and an MSI Creation X399 motherboard which uses the Intel 9260AC wireless card. The Wireless adapter cannot be found by the system, and I ahve attempted all the beginner solutions include updates and downloading the latest Intel driver and copying it into the /lib/firmware/ folder. The issue traced to this bug in the iwlwifi driver:

iwlwifi bug

Note bluetooth works fine, and I have given the PC internet connection through a USB modem.

After reading many older articles and doing numerous tests, I am adamant the issue is in the backports of linux where the 32 core cpu creates issues where the code was expecting a max of 16. Read here:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/iwlwifi/backport-iwlwifi.git/commit/drivers/net/wireless/intel?id=998ce0330c94eca4b13b8f062b3f0ca9ef9ad6d8

Knowing how to install this file was difficult, and I was uable to work out how to implement that bug fix.

I also followed this tutorial on reinstalling the linux backports:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/706009/new-to-linux-need-to-find-and-install-my-wireless-driver-ac-8260

However this never gets passed the make step as there is an error with one of the files in the iwlwifi folder.

print out from make

I would greatly appreciate anyone's help in implementing this fix, please don't hesitate to request additional printouts.
