When installing any software the terminal hangs on “Building initial module 4.15.0-42-generic"

When I am installing any software, the terminal is hanging on building initial module for 4.15.0.42-generic
Loading new openafs-1.6.15 DKMS files...
First Installation: checking all kernels...
Building only for 4.15.0-42-generic
Building initial module for 4.15.0-42-generic
After this nothing happens if I press Ctrl+C or Ctrl+ ->
I have already gone through this link, but it is not useful in my case.
