Switching to a TTY results in monitor losing signal

I am using ubuntu 18.10,with nvidia-415 on a 1050ti, also tried different drivers. Enabling modesetting made it work for a bit, but it stopped working when I turned off my PC.

Reboots apparently don't cause the problem, it is just full shutdowns. I am booting in UEFI mode if that makes any difference.
