Is it more secure to Dual Boot or VM for game/software development? [closed]

I'm building a PC and planned to dual-boot Windows 10 ((for playing games/game development)) & Linux((for software development/internet use)). However a colleague mentioned that I should consider running a virtual machine instead of dual-booting especially if i'll be developing.
His reason: "You'll want to be in a sandbox if you're developing. It's more secure"
My main questions?
- Strictly on security, is he correct?
- Why or why not?
linux windows multi-boot development

Many good questions generate some degree of opinion based on expert experience, but answers to this question will tend to be almost entirely based on opinions, rather than facts, references, or specific expertise. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.
