Remove Bloatware before doing windows 8.1 to windows 10 upgrade?

Thank you for the answer on my previous question. I was able to get out of updates on Toshiba Laptop by following your advice. I rebooted the system, but now it runs incredibly SLOW.
It appears that the laptop is now full of what I would consider to be bloatware. Is it better to remove bloatware before trying to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10? If so what is the best procedure for doing so?

Most bloatware is not running all the time and is probably not the reason the laptop is slow. There are many reasons for slowdown. An easy test would be run an alternate OS, such as Linux, from a USB drive. If that runs better, then perhaps the laptop cannot support newer Windows OS. [That said, Window 10 will install far more bloatware, so remove it all at once after installation.]

I am going to guess, the machine is running slow, due to updates being downloaded and installed in the background. You can verify that is the case by running Windows Update. There is a chance by viewing Windows Update, you will actually install the pending updates, but you really should install the updates before you perform any sort of upgrade to Windows 10 anyways.
