WiFi not working on HP pavilion Dv7

So I just installed Ubuntu 18.04 on my HP Pavilion Dv7 laptop after windows broke. My WiFi doesn't work. It sort of does, but only in ways it really wants to. I can connect to my network, however pinging doesn't work. Earlier I was able to ping IP's and not domains, but now I can't ping either. No apps work with internet, and settings doesn't display any of the WiFi networks in the area. It just says "unavailable" at the top. What can I do to fix this? Here are the specs:

Wireless adapter: Qualcomm Atheros

Driver: ath5k
