QEMU/KVM: How to prevent remote-viewer with a SPICE connection from passing ACPI signal to the VM
I have a Win server 2012 on a virtual machine on QEMU/KVM with SPICE support running on a physical Ubuntu 16.04 server.
I connect to it from a physical computer with Ubuntu 18.04 using the following command:
sudo remote-viewer spice://<ip>:<port>
I use sudo, so that usb redirection works, otherwise, trying to pass usb devices is denied.
When I want to turn off the physical client computer, I push the power button on it, which sends an ACPI signal to shut it down. The physical computer starts shutting down, but it doesn't stop there. The ACPI signal is also passed through to the connected VM via the remote-viewer client.
It's not the behaviour, that I need. I just need the remote-viewer window to be closed, disconnecting from the remote session and the physical client computer being shut down, while the VM still running on the server.
Instead of it, the VM also shuts down.
How to block the ACPI signal from being passed to the remote VM through the remote-viewer client, so it doesn't shut down?
shutdown kvm acpi qemu spice
