Xubuntu on VirtualBox doesn't exit fullscreen mode properly
I just installed Xubuntu 18.04.1 under VirtualBox 6.0.0 on my Windows 10 machine. Using the display settings app on Xubuntu, I set the default guest screen resolution to 800x600.
Going into fullscreen mode works fine. The guest expands to the host machine's 1920x1080 resolution.
Exiting fullscreen leaves the guest resolution at 1920x1080 instead of returning it to 800x600 as it always has in the past with previous versions of VBox and Xubuntu. Using the display settings app to manually set it back works, until I shut down/reboot the guest machine.
On shutdown, the "spinning circle" screen resizes the display to 1920x1080, then it goes back to 800x600, then it powers off.
On bootup, it goes to 1920x1080 after the spinning circle screen. (this gives me a maximized window with scrollbars on the host). Then it resizes the guest screen to match this window on the host. Then it resizes to 800x600 and the window on the host resizes to match.
I have the guest additions installed (from the Device->Insert Guest Additions CD image... menu item).
Don't know if it's related but I occasionally get a notification popup "VBoxClient: failed to start xrandr". The behaviour is the same no matter whether I get this popup or not.
In short, I expect the guest Xubuntu to return to the screen size I previously set when I leave fullscreen.
