Administering Ubuntu 16.04 xenial VM in Azure

0

I have created VM of Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial based on the "xenial-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.vhd" download from http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/.

I have followed the MS instructions to build the VM and it is working as expected.

But when I come to log in via PuTTY using SSH on my Windows client I get a Login as: prompt but I have no idea the user id and password.

I have tried ubuntu as the user id with no password (as some google searches indicated) but to no luck.

The MS document I was following has the following line at the end about logging in;-

You should be able to SSH into the VM with the credentials from the source VM.

Any ideas what credentials I should be using?

Any help will be appreciated.

  • Could you possibly add a link to the documentation you were following?

  • Probably you should define user and assign it to the VPS via the control panel of the cloud.
