No internet, probably related to ExpressVPN

0

I'm trying to move from Windows to Linux and i installed Ubuntu 18 on my HTPC today. I've installed it three times because of this issue. Everything works great on a clean install until i bring in Expressvpn. That installs fine, connects fine (I've used both the firefox add-on and some UI I've never been able to relocate) but when i disconnect expressvpn, i lose reliable WiFi.

I get the question mark instead of the WiFi signal and there is no connectivity, i can't even access my LAN, but if i go into the WiFi setup page it shows connected with an excellent signal, an ip address, and a DNS. I've read many problems with others losing their DNS but i don't think that's the case. I get a genetic "web page can't be found" message on my browser.

I've purged expressvpn and that doesn't fix it. I've purged and reinstalled resolvconf and that gets me to unreliable use, it'll work for a bit, then lose connection for a bit, and go back and forth. All other devices in my house on Windows, Android, and IOS have no issues so the problem is on my Ubuntu pc. I have no idea where to look next, any suggestions?
