Quit my job to join another company that pulled a bait and switch. Will anyone want me now?
So I graduated May of 2017 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I got a full time job straight out of college as a test engineer. However, I really realized that my passion was software development. I love to code. So I started applying for jobs around April of 2018. I ended up getting a job offer doing what I thought would be software development. I get out there and they said I would be doing cloud computing (AWS) and from what I could tell it did not seem like a job I actually wanted. Little to no code from what I understood. They gave me two weeks to sign a 2 year contract. I ended up backing out. Considering the fact that I found a job so quickly I thought it wouldn't be hard looking for a full time software developer job. However, after a few months of failed attempts and only one job offer (which also was very vague as to what I would be doing, I turned it down), I joined a coding bootcamp. I am about to graduate. I am just wondering, would any companies really want to hire someone that left their job the way I did? Doesn't it show a lack of commitment? Especially with my story of leaving that new job within two weeks. I can understand why companies wouldn't want to hire me. I have a lot of projects like smartphone apps that I have made on my own that prove I have the skills, but not much to show for as far as my dedication to a company goes. I am asking, what should I do to get back in the game and learn from my mistakes so I can make up for it? Like how do I prove myself at this point? I am talking to several companies right now with no offers yet but how do I even explain my situation to these companies?
