Set up vpn on raspberry - initial connection error

I want to create a VPN on my RaspberryPi. For this I was following this more or less simple tutorial online: https://www.stewright.me/2018/07/create-a-raspberry-pi-vpn-server-using-l2tpipsec/
I get the following error when trying to connect:

Connection with pivm_vpn not possible.
The L2TP connection attempt failed because of a processing error
during the first security handshake with the remote computer
Do you have any Idea what the reason for this error could be?
