Using Windows AppCompat shims without SDB

0

I was wondering, is it possible to apply Windows AppCompat shims (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/planning/compatibility-fixes-for-windows-8-windows-7-and-windows-vista) to a certain executable directly without using Shim Databases? Using ACT with SDB files does do the job but it's kind of a bother and I want to know if there's a faster way to do this.
