Cups-Driver: Printer randomly prints blank page

I have a ZEBRA ZT230 300dpi ZPL label printer that is connected via usb. I have cofigured the cups driver (Version 2.2.1) for that printer on my linux ubuntu. My problem is that the printer sometimes prints everything correctly and sometimes just prints blank pages. I have read a couple articles that suggest, that its the file size that causes this issue. And empirically I could see that small text files < 100 Byte are printed guaranteed. But if I try to print a PDF file (> 50 KB) the chance of success is maybe 3/5 at max.
The suggested solution to fixing the "blank page problem" is to set the printer settings to use the "Postscript" language. But I couldnt find a settings that alows me to that.
Here is the link for reference. Unfortunately its in german: https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/CUPS/
With the windows driver on my windows computer everything works perfectly with a 100% success rate. So I dont think that the problem has anything todo with the device itself.
Anyone has a solution for this problem?
