Dell PE2950 Video card almost working in KXStudio Linux

On my Dell PE 2950 I cut out the back of the PCIe x8 slot and installed a PNY NVidia GT 710 (low profile to fit in the case. Installed NVidia drivers for Linux...BEFORE I cut the x8 slot. I tried removing the DRAC...that just caused me other problems...so I put the DRAC back. Now it takes just a minute to boot, but it does...however...the HDMI monitor only shows the KXStudio (linux distro) logo in the middle of the monitor and the VGA monitor is "trying" to show the desktop...but it will go black...I hit CTRL ALT and F1 (or whatever tier) and the desktop shows again for a few seconds...then black...while the whole time the HDMI monitor is proudly showing the KXStudio logo. Remember I will not be able to "see" the terminal on the desktop...so I will be entering the commands "blind".
Is there a command to open the terminal then another command to switch to the HDMI monitor where the logo is showing only? Oh! The VGA is plugged into the onboard VGA. The HDMI is plugged into the video card. There is no way that I know of to disable the VGA in BIOS. If I were a coder I would modify the BIOS to do that...and automatically use the card...which, obviously Linux is picking it up anyway. What now? Any ideas tips or dynamite?
Thank you much.
