Public access to VMs in NAT mode VirtualBox
I am trying to make a vm publicly accessible and it seems I am missing something obvious. Since I do not have any control on the router, I choose NAT with port forwarding. Here are my rules:
NIC 1: MAC: 08002794A6B4, Attachment: NAT, Cable connected: on, Trace: off (file: none), Type: 82545EM, Reported speed: 0 Mbps, Boot priority: 0, Promisc Policy: allow-all, Bandwidth group: none
NIC 1 Settings: MTU: 0, Socket (send: 64, receive: 64), TCP Window (send:64, receive: 64)
NIC 1 Rule(0): name = domain, protocol = tcp, host ip = , host port = 5353, guest ip = , guest port = 53
NIC 1 Rule(1): name = http, protocol = tcp, host ip = 0.0.0.0, host port = 8080, guest ip = 0.0.0.0, guest port = 80
NIC 1 Rule(2): name = imap, protocol = tcp, host ip = , host port = 341, guest ip = , guest port = 143
NIC 1 Rule(3): name = mysql, protocol = tcp, host ip = , host port = 6033, guest ip = , guest port = 3306
NIC 1 Rule(4): name = postgresql, protocol = tcp, host ip = , host port = 2345, guest ip = , guest port = 5432
NIC 1 Rule(5): name = ssh, protocol = tcp, host ip = , host port = 2222, guest ip = , guest port = 22
I can see that these ports are open with a nmap on the public ip of the server. Howerver:
1) the services are not accessible (ex. I can't reach the web page hosted on 8080)
2) it looks like VBOX is not listening. (from what I can see from the Host side)
netstat -nap | grep 2222
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:2222 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN -
I tried to allow promiscuity but it did not change a thing. Are my rules edited properly? Should I do something on the network configuration of the host?
- HOST: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
- VIRTUALBOX: 5.2.18_Ubuntur123745
