Simulated mouseclick in external window

I'm looking for a Lubuntu alternative for Window's Sendmessage function to automate and simulate a left click in an external window. For example, generate a left-click on a calculator's button. P.S. I'm not looking for a Windows UI Automation alternative as this only works for buttons.

Is there an API or are there DLL functions that I can call similar to this Window's functionality?
