How do I recongure ubuntu-18.04 for a new monitor?

I've updated my monitor. The machine boots, and I see the booting screen. But then it stops sending any video signal at all. I presume that it doens't know how to configure for the new monitor.
How do I force it to reconfigure? (From a command line)
