Open Windows in Previous Location

I have Ubuntu 18.04, and this might seem like a pretty trivial question. But I want the window for Thunderbird to open here, and Firefox to open there. BionicBeaver has its own ideas about where they should open, so I have to move them every time. Window size is fine, I just want to determine the positions.
Previous Ubuntu used to often get it right and sometimes not, and I never figured out why it didn't do exactly the same thing every time, but mostly it did what I wanted.
