What is the best way to extend a wifi network to another building about 600-800ft away?

I am trying to figure out the best way to send my wifi connection to another building on my property, the building is anywhere from 600-800ft away and I want to be able to use both wifi and ethernet and it be the same network so that network sharing will work correctly.

  • DD-WRT Wireless Bridge would be how I'd do it.

  • Is the building in plain sight of one another? If so you can beam wifi from one to another, but a line of sight is necessary. Basically 2 satellite dishes are aiming at eachother and wifi is transmitted between them.

  • You can see the building from the house but there are a few trees in-between What devices do I need to beam the signal, and get everything setup at both locations.

  • The term is "wireless bridge" which many routers can do (though some require you to install firmware like DD-WRT as @FSS explained). The problem is that 600-800 ft is quite a distance. You can use a "cantenna" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantenna) or you can purchase something more designed for this such as amazon.com/Ubiquiti-NanoStation-locoM2-2-4GHz-Outdoor/dp/…
