Having issues with touchpad after upgrading to 18.04

0

I just decided to try upgrading my laptop to Ubuntu 18.04. I am having lots of issues with my touchpad. At first I could not right click which I fixed with the gnome-tweaks tool. However, about a third of the time I right clicked still no menu would appear. Also the two finger scroll had issues. It would not recognize I was using two fingers half the time and move the mouse rather than the page. None of this was an issue in 16.04 where the touchpad worked great out of the box.

I found the following solution online and tried it...

sudo apt remove xserver-xorg-input-libinput
sudo apt install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

After rebooting my laptop I could no longer use the keyboard but the touchpad worked like it used to in 16.04. I reinstalled xserver-xorg-input-libinput using the recovery mode and the keyboard came back and the touchpad still seemed to have the issues with mouse movement, and scrolling resolved. However, now there were two new issues...

1) It would not right click at all but the two finger click worked fine (I tried all modes in the gnome-tweaks.)

2) The natural scrolling was messed up. The vertical scrolling worked great but the horizontal scroll was inverted. Horizontally the page would move in the same direction as my finger whereas vertically it would move in the opposite direction (as desired).

How can I make my touchpad work like it used to in ubuntu 16.04. I think I am close if I could just resolve the two above issues.
