in firefox, on-screen keyboard spell correct adds correct spelling to incorrect rather than replacing

using a surface pro 3, win 10, firefox quantum 64

While typing on the on screen keyboard, any corrections to spelling - automatically chosen by the keyboard, or selected by pressing suggestions - are added after the offending word rather than in its place.

For exmple example otit dpesdoes thos this . Any ideas?

I have just discovered it only occurs on facebook!
