Why am I getting a “they apparently meant well” popup when I try to highlight a URL?

0

I'm running Linux Mint 18.3, and after software installation have a lightbox-themed popup that offers four things to do with a URL if I highlight a URL either in Chrome or Firefox, but not LibreOffice. The somewhat tacky asthetics don't look like it came from a large organization, and it's annoying to click or arrow key the cursor to the beginning of a URL, hold the Shift key and start hitting right arrows, and having this obstacle pop up.

I tried to get a specimen screenshot, but it interfered with the screen capture; hitting "Prt Sc" when the popup was there did nothing until a couple of seconds had passed and the popup disappeared.

I imagine some people might find this feature singularly convenient, but how can I get it to go away?

The software I (knowingly) installed was cairo-dock.

Thanks,

At Least Firefox has a number of advanced screenshot add-ons that can capture tougher stuff like pop-up messages and the cursor. You don't mention your DE, but for example, KDE has the Spectacle utility that can also do it. If you're not using KDE, there are others available, or you could load Spectacle if you don't mind adding a ton of KDE support files, also. Some screenshot utilities are better than others at this.
