Kubuntu 18.10 installation problem
I’m installing Kubuntu 18.10 from flash USB-stick on a brand new pc with no prior OS installed.
My pc specs are:
MSI B450M Gaming Plus
AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 3,7GHz
Geil value RAM 8GB DDR4-2133
AMD Radeon RX Vega 8
After I reach the screen where I can install Kubuntu and select install, the error message I keep getting is:
BusyBox v1.27.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.27.2-2ubuntu4) built-in shell (ash)
Enter ‘help’ for a list of commands.
(initrams) mkdir: can’t create directory ‘/com/work’: Structure needs cleaning
mount: mounting /dev/loop1 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: Input/output error
Can not mount /dev/loop1 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs
(initrams)
Is there a quick fix to this problem or am I still a long way from having a workable Kubuntu OS?

Have you tried any other os’s on it at all? May be try another Linux distro Debian stretch, an older Ubuntu around 16 or so. First thing I would do is reinstall the live iso again on the flash device or befor that try using a USB port which is actually mounted to the motherboard not one which is connected to the board over a cable. Deffo try USB port mounted to the motherboard first. Then if not reinstall the iso if not again try another distro older version and hen try running it from a disk instead of usb, it’s a painful process but you’ve gotta to the elimination route. Hope you get it done

Ok so I’ve tried a different version, namely Kubuntu 16.04.5 and it doesn’t show the same text, but after a white screen it briefly shows: [ 4.609311] AMD-Vi: Unable to write to IOMMU perf counter. And then there’s nothing but a black screen. I’ve tried over and over, same outcome.

Have you tried any other os’s on it at all? May be try another Linux distro Debian stretch, an older Ubuntu around 16 or so. First thing I would do is reinstall the live iso again on the flash device or befor that try using a USB port which is actually mounted to the motherboard not one which is connected to the board over a cable. Deffo try USB port mounted to the motherboard first. Then if not reinstall the iso if not again try another distro older version and hen try running it from a disk instead of usb, it’s a painful process but you’ve gotta to the elimination route. Hope you get it done
