NGINX - Change request_method & redirect
I have seen lots of examples where the $request_method is evaluated, however how can I set the method before redirecting ?
if ($arg_func ~* stats){
set $request_method GET;
return 302 http://some.domain.com/$1;
}
I have requests that are being made to HEAD which are no longer relevant and I need to redirect them to another server to handle the request via a normal get.
Of course the above is not correct, but I can't seem to find the syntax for setting / overriding the method.

The request method isn't passed backwards through thereturn 302
, so changing it makes no difference.
