How to stop new “Handle” printouts during boot

0

Recently, when I upgraded my machines with Ubuntu 18.04 (all using EFI) they started printing a long string of text like that below (shortened) before the GRUB screen is displayed:

Handle 0x49cb9b98
/ACPI (a0341d0,0)/PCI (0,14)/USB(9.1)/EndEntire
USB I/O
device path
Handle 0x49cb1a1B
loaded image
Handle 0x4a280e98
d088a413-0a70-4217-ba55-9a3ch64c41b3

and so on (for screens and screens of text). This has effected all of my machines. While on some machines the text scrolls by so fast as to only add 15 seconds or so to the total boot time, on other machines this runs at such a slow pace that it takes the computer 10 minutes to boot.

I have tested the machines with a Ubuntu 18.04.1 Live USB and that does not exhibit this behavior, therefore, it is not the firmware.
