Isolating a machine with a network proxy

0

I have two virtual machines on a VMWare ESXi 6.0 host:

  • a proxy machine running Ubuntu 18.04 server

  • a machine I want to isolate behind the previously mentioned proxy.

(see this diagram (png) for more information)

The problem is: the proxy working correctly but I still cannot reach the World Wide Web from the isolated machine. The only host I am able to ping is 192.168.0.20 (the proxy). This is most likely an error the network configuration of the isolated VM, but I cannot figure it out. All help is appreciated!

#--- Netplan for Proxy VM:
network:
version: 2
renderer: networkd
ethernets:
eth0:
addresses: [ 192.168.0.50/24 ]
gateway4: 192.168.0.1
nameservers:
addresses: [ 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1 ]
dhcp4: no
dhcp6: no
eth1:
addresses: [ 192.168.1.20/24 ]
gateway4: 192.168.1.1
nameservers:
