Opening Links in Ubuntu 18.04

I am having trouble opening links in any of my non-browser apps on my machine. When I click on a link, such as in the Ubuntu Software store or in Evolution, one of two things will happen.

Either some time will pass, then Chrome will shutdown and then reopen with the website loaded and a message to restore my previous tabs or nothing will happen. With the second option, it appears that nothing happened, but when I click on Chrome, the website has loaded just fine and all of my other tabs are still loaded as well. So it worked, it just did not automatically switch to my browser.

I am running Ubuntu 18.04 with the latest updates and the latest version of Chrome. Thanks ahead of time for any help that you guys give me.
