Get needed disk space for software installation

-1

I would like to know how much disk space I need for an installation before I do the installation so I can use that information in a script and compare it to my free disk space. Is there any command available?

Thanks.
Marc

The recommended disk space is 25gb (help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements) however it depends on how much software & data you'll install (ie. what you'll do with the machine). You need space for upgrades, esp. release-upgrades (when they are due)
