Laptop screen won't turn on after wake-up from suspend

0

As the title says, after I wake up my laptop from suspend (by pressing keyboard keys), its screen won't turn on. I think everything else works fine, because it makes the usual noises when I try to use backspace in the empty password field, the Fn keys for volume produce beeps, and I can turn the keyboard light on and off just fine.

My computer is a Dell Inspirion 5575 running on a AMD Ryzen 5 2500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx. I have installed Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS with kernel version 4.15.0-45-generic.

Informations I find might be relevant:

  • I've had to apply the nomodeset fix; otherwise, the screen would be blank after boot (blank, not off).

  • I initially installed Ubuntu Budgie, but have since installed other enviroments. Currently, I'm using the default one.

  • As I already mentioned, I'm running on AMD graphics. My suspicion is that my problem has something to do with that. I guess I may need to install some additional drivers, but I haven't found definitive answers on that – and besides, Ubuntu's “additional drivers” program says there are non to be installed.

So the question is: how do I fix it?
