Shutdown or Restarting - 18.04 LTS Ubuntu stand-alone version

Have recently purchased a Lenovo Laptop (ideapad 330) with freedos.
Spec - AMD Ryzen 5 with Vega 8
have installed only Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. On switching on the laptop at times, it does not boot up to the login screen. only get a blank screen or a screen with a cursor, need to force shutdown the system.
On other times, it logs in to the system, but the system is frozen and forced shutdowwn needs to be done.
Wifi & touchpad are also not working.
