  • How can I repair grub? (How to get Ubuntu back after installing Windows?)

I am not skilled with computers, this PC Ubuntu Linux computer was a gift. It was working fine and then shut itself down. When I turned it back on it said this.

error: file '/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found.
grub rescue>

I have tried the suggestions but nothing works. I have no start up disk or anything. Please say there is something I can do.

  • You need to make an Ubuntu live installer, from another working system. Either a friend, school or work computer. May be best to see details, use ppa version with your live installer or any working install, not older Boot-Repair ISO: Please copy & paste link to the summary report ( not post full report), the auto fix sometimes can create more issues. help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair
