Is receiving MMS messages to a linux machine really possible?

Over the years I have set up a few different Gammu SMS gateways in which sms messages can be sent and received from a linux network. These gateways have worked well but do not satisfy my need to receive MMS messages.

Accordingly, I have made various attempts but have never succeeded in getting Gammu to receive MMS messages. Specifically, I have tried with a ZTE mf-190 modem. When I do: gammu --config /etc/gammu-smsdrc getallsms nothing comes through -- I do not get any indication of an incoming message. I am told by my service provider that the ZTE-MF-190 cannot receive MMS. One thing that makes such a declaration plausible as I cannot find any way to enter an APN setting into the modem. I have also tried with a nokia e5-00.2 rm634.

Again, my service provider says it won't work, at least not consistently, because although the phone is advertised as 3G it sometimes works as only 2G. Additionally, with the nokia e5-00.2 I get "Function not supported by phone" when I try: gammu -c /etc/gammurc getallsms. So, my specific question is, has anyone ever been able to receive an MMS or information about an MMS ( a url where to download for example ) with gammu? If so what modem or phone were you using? Who is the service provider? And did you have to do anything in setting it up that is beyond whats written in the docs?
