Is there an active window audio level control shortcut for Windows?

Is there a Windows shortcut, setting, or method that would allow me to:

a) Lower/raise/mute the volume of the active window application; e.g., Ctrl + Win + +/-?

b) Lower/raise/mute all the background (not the focused window) application volumes; e.g., Ctrl + Win + Alt + +/-?

  • This is normally done with media keys of the keyboard. There's no straight shortcut to changing the volume as you requested, but there are some "workarounds" you can try. They are not so elegant, though.
